Not sure we did, really. No
Byram was playing in a much more advanced role for Leeds when we bought him. I got the feeling we thought he would develop into a real player (which he still may, don't get me wrong) and were concerned that Everton were going to get ahead of us in the queue.
I don't think we necessarily bought him only for his defensive capabilities and as the long term solution to our years and years and years of right back problems , but wtfdik?

Zabaleta from Citeh is my gut reaction be a great mentor for Byram who should make it his position for many years to come.

As you well know it isn't my job to find them. That responsibility falls on the shoulders of our highly paid recruitment team

I suppose you're right. It would be a strained negotiation of course. There must be easier targets.

They will deal with us Alex they wanted Kouyate last season and when they phoned up Sullivan took the piss and said straight swap for Kane

Re: Right Back

A think I'm amazed we haven't seen is either Cresswell or Masuaku tried on the right side. I know it's not common to see wrong footed full backs in the premiership, but it's much more common across europe.

Spurs won't deal with us, and if they did it would be a lot more than 10 mil imo. Need to look elsewhere. I think Trippier is ok, but not worth blowing a fortune on.

Spurs wouldn't sell him for under 10 mill

I'm sure trippier would move for the right price and regular football Not sure if our owners will pay it.... We scour the world for a bargain while the answer is just a few miles away!

Cornish - probably thinking of Borthwick-Jackson the left bsck.
Fwiw, I can't see them letting Fosu-Mensah go, he's going to be mustard. Not sure he'll end up at right back either...

Who are these players then onsideman, if they are that easy to find/predict?
BTW 'right sided cresswell' reminds me of when we were going to find the 'right sided illunga'......

Re: Right Back

They should go all out for the next Nathaniel Clyne...or Kieran Trippier....(both of whom were attainable for us) or a right-sided equivalent of Cresswell if you like...
They don't even have to be that good to be considerably better than what we have

I think he is actually a defensive midfielder who filled in at both fullback positions when they had a bit of a defensive crisis.
